In her welcome address, Her Excellency Dr Raja Easa Al Gurg, Vice-Chairperson of MBRU’s Board of Trustees, said, “Each of you have compassion, otherwise you would not have chosen to enter this life-saving, life-giving field. Each of you have big aspirations, otherwise you would not have wanted to earn your place at the forefront of healthcare excellence. And above all, each of you have the spirit of innovation, otherwise you would not have chosen the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences. MBRU is proud to welcome you, the inaugural cohort of medical students, as you begin your journey to become physicians and leaders.”

MBRU, which has an academic partnership with Queen's University Belfast, one of UK’s leading research intensive universities, is accredited by UAE’s Ministry of Education – Higher Education Affairs.

During their program at MBRU, students will benefit from a student-centered medical education and state-of-the-art facilities, medical technologies and learning resources.

The students, selected among hundreds of candidates, underwent an exhaustive selection process before being enrolled in the program including Multiple Mini Interviews to assess their soft skills such as maturity, collaboration; communication; critical thinking; problem solving; ethical decision-making; empathy; and cultural sensitivity, among other non-cognitive skills.

Prof. Alawi Alsheikh-Ali, Dean of the College of Medicine, said, “We have handpicked our students to ensure that they have the right potential to become the future leaders of healthcare in the UAE and beyond. These students represent a diverse and exceptional group of people chosen from a highly competitive pool. Today our students have taken their first step into the transformative educational journey at MBRU which will equip them with the knowledge and skills to become committed, confident and capable healthcare professionals in the future.”
